scope
Selected published offers for simple wills from ten services. SwiftWill sells one of the services included. Inclusion and order are not rankings; the services differ in advice, review, support and scope.

method
Read primary provider pages, record their published offer and source next to each fact, and mark information not established as not verified. This is desk research, not a purchase test, legal quality assessment or representative survey. A check date means the source was inspected on that date, not that a provider confirmed it or guarantees it remains available. Where a provider's site blocks automated checks, its last verified date is kept and the block is noted.

priceRules
Prices are in GBP, are the total a consumer pays including any VAT, and retain any 'from' qualification. Where a provider publishes a price plus VAT, the total adds VAT at 20% (calculated by SwiftWill, rounded to the penny) and the published pre-VAT prices are kept in exVat. Blank couple prices mean not verified, never zero. Promotional prices, partner vouchers, charity eligibility, extras and complex-work quotes are excluded from the numeric comparison and cost illustration. A separately dated promotion note records an offer and its stated end date. An earlier standard-price record keeps its original check date when a current standard price cannot be verified; it is not a prediction of the price after an offer ends. A pair may mean independently prepared wills or shared wishes: compare the actual product. Confirm current terms at checkout.

costRules
The illustration models one person over 1–10 years at unchanged prices. Total = initial preparation price + annual update charge × max(0, years − full free years). Charges are counted during the period, stopping before its end anniversary. A free period shorter than a year (such as 28 days) has zero full free years. Updates are optional; switching them off displays only the initial price, not a promise of free amendments. Unknown recurring terms, and update offers that are not annual subscriptions (such as a discounted new document), return 'Not modelled'.

excludedCosts
Printing, postage, custody of the original, advice extras, executor services, inflation and changing circumstances. No assumptions about couples' subscription charging units. A subscription is not necessary merely to keep an existing signed will in force.

files
will-prices.csv is a summary. will-provider-comparison.csv has one row per provider fact, with source and checked date. Both are generated from the same record as the site's tables. will-provider-comparison.json is the complete machine-readable record, including calculator assumptions. Blank cells indicate unavailable or inapplicable information; read the notes.

reuse
SwiftWill's factual summaries are available under CC-BY-4.0. Attribute SwiftWill, link the original provider source and preserve the check date, qualifications and unknown values. This does not license competitors' text, documents, trademarks or templates.

2026-09-24: Rechecked every provider page. Added TenMinuteWill, ClearLegacy and MyIntent (formerly Bequeathed). Recorded that makeawill.co.uk (Capacity Vault Ltd) sells the same online will as Make a Will Online, with different add-on prices, so it is not listed separately. Added a regulation fact for each provider, Octopus Legacy's review time and print option, Which?'s storage, printing and cancellation terms, and Farewill's telephone prices. Prices are now VAT-inclusive totals, with TenMinuteWill's published + VAT prices kept in exVat. Renamed the Which? Wills provider id from 'which' to 'which-wills' to match its comparison page, and merged 'Refunds' and 'Cancellation' facts under one label. Co-op Legal Services' site blocks automated requests, so its prices, storage and regulation details were re-checked in a web browser the same day; they were unchanged. legalwills.co.uk was not added because its site refused automated requests.
2026-10-06: Updated ClearLegacy to £89 single / £129 mirror from 1 October and £89 for a later full rewrite after checking its current sources. Added the Which? promotional starting price of £89.10, ending 31 October, as a separately dated fact; its historical £99 non-promotional price retains the 24 September check date. Other providers were not reverified. Comparison and calculator summaries now distinguish record dates and exclude time-limited offers from numeric projections.
