What does the higher initial price buy?
Make a Will Online publishes an individual solicitor check as part of its £60 single-will or £90 couples service. SwiftWill is £25 less for one will and £35 less for a couple at the listed prices, but does not include that check. If you need someone to consider your individual wording, comparing only the initial fee misses a material difference.
What happens when you need an update or printed copy?
Make a Will Online publishes 28 days of free updates, followed by an optional £10 annual update service, and printing and postage from £15 per document. Confirm renewal and cancellation terms before subscribing. With SwiftWill, you print the PDF yourself and retain a private recovery file for free regeneration for the same people.
Which option fits someone uncertain about their wishes?
An automated preview can help you spot a wrong name or allocation. It cannot resolve uncertainty about the effect of a clause or a difficult family situation. Ask the provider whether the included check covers your concern or whether a separate advice appointment is needed. makeawill.co.uk is run by a different company, Capacity Vault Ltd, and says its £60 and £90 online will is delivered by Make a Will Online, its sister service. On 24 September 2026 it listed printing at £20 single or £30 pair and updates at £20 per person per year, while makeawillonline.co.uk listed £15 per document and £10 a year. This comparison uses the makeawillonline.co.uk offer; check the terms and final total of the route you actually buy.
What does SwiftWill provide?
A guided interview, document preview, automated validation, downloadable PDFs and signing instructions. There is no annual update fee: regeneration for the same people uses a private recovery file and matching paid order. The £55 pair shares instructions; choose separate wills if your wishes differ. This does not include individual solicitor advice or review, and SwiftWill’s suitability questions send people with trusts, business or overseas assets, a likely dispute or capacity concerns to professional advice before payment.
How should you choose?
If you want someone qualified to check your individual document, choose a service that explicitly includes that, and ask what the check covers.
