Basic Will prices include VAT. A qualifying charity’s MyIntent page can make the first Basic Will free (a mirror will for a partner is then £175). Trusts, tax advice and other extras are quoted separately. MyIntent says it is provided by Bequeathed, a professional fundraising company.
Why does MyIntent cost more than SwiftWill?
MyIntent’s £249 Basic Will and £349 Basic Mirror Wills, including VAT, come with legal advice: after its online interview you can book a free 30-minute video appointment with a legal adviser, who prepares the will. SwiftWill’s £35 and £55 buy automated preparation without advice. The two are different services, so the price gap is not a like-for-like saving.
Can you get a MyIntent will for free?
Sometimes. Its price list shows a free Basic Will for people who register through a qualifying charity’s MyIntent page, with a mirror will for a partner at £175. MyIntent says it is provided by Bequeathed, a professional fundraising company. Check whether a charity you support offers this route, and read our list of other free will options.
What costs extra?
Its published price list quotes extras such as a specific gift (£175), inheritance tax advice (from £250), a property protection trust (£557) and other will trusts (from £950), plus £20 to print and post. Apart from the Basic Will, the list says these prices are estimates and the adviser will give a quote. SwiftWill does not sell trusts or tax advice at any price.
Who gives the advice, and is it regulated?
MyIntent’s sample terms say its panel law firms are regulated by an approved regulator, while its own legal team is led by a regulated solicitor but MyIntent itself is not a regulated organisation. The actual terms are in the client care letter you sign, which names your adviser. Ask which firm will act for you and which complaints route applies before the appointment.
What does SwiftWill provide?
A guided interview, document preview, automated validation, downloadable PDFs and signing instructions. There is no annual update fee: regeneration for the same people uses a private recovery file and matching paid order. The £55 pair shares instructions; choose separate wills if your wishes differ. This does not include individual solicitor advice or review, and SwiftWill’s suitability questions send people with trusts, business or overseas assets, a likely dispute or capacity concerns to professional advice before payment.
How should you choose?
If you want someone qualified to check your individual document, choose a service that explicitly includes that, and ask what the check covers.
