What does the £99 starting price cover?
Which? advertises wills from £99. Its service page describes Self Service, Review and Premium packages: Self Service documents are ready to print once completed, while Review and Premium add a check by its specialists and Premium adds a printed, bound copy. Package and couples prices appear in its product selector, which we could not capture, so confirm the total before buying.
Who reviews a Which? will?
Specialist paralegals trained in wills and powers of attorney, supervised by an SRA-regulated solicitor, aiming to finish within ten working days. Its terms say the review checks legal formalities, contradictions and typographical errors, and is not legal advice or tax advice. SwiftWill has no individual review at any price.
Is Which? Wills regulated?
Its terms say Which? Legal and Which? Limited, including Which? Wills, are not regulated by the SRA, so you cannot complain to the SRA about them or claim on the SRA Compensation Fund. The same terms describe professional indemnity insurance at the SRA’s minimum levels. SwiftWill is not a law firm either; neither service is a regulated legal practice.
What does Which? offer that SwiftWill does not?
An optional specialist review, printing and binding through Premium, will and power of attorney bundles, and documents for Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as England and Wales. SwiftWill costs less at £35 or £55, covers England and Wales only and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Which?’s terms say it does not store documents and may delete them after a period, so download your final will promptly.
What does SwiftWill provide?
A guided interview, document preview, automated validation, downloadable PDFs and signing instructions. There is no annual update fee: regeneration for the same people uses a private recovery file and matching paid order. The £55 pair shares instructions; choose separate wills if your wishes differ. This does not include individual solicitor advice or review, and SwiftWill’s suitability questions send people with trusts, business or overseas assets, a likely dispute or capacity concerns to professional advice before payment.
How should you choose?
If you want someone qualified to check your individual document, choose a service that explicitly includes that, and ask what the check covers.
